About the Role

The Senior Director of Compliance Advisory will oversee and manage the overall product compliance function across go-to-market, product, risk and customer service operations and ensure that all products and business units meet regulatory standards and requirements. Reporting to the VP of Compliance, the Head of Advisory Compliance will play an essential role in designing innovative financial products. This role requires extensive knowledge of lending and fintech compliance regulations, strong leadership abilities, and the ability to collaborate across multiple departments. The successful candidate must have outstanding communication skills, an ability to anticipate and deliver on the needs of a fast-paced and innovative business, and the flexibility to simultaneously manage a wide range of projects.

What You’ll Do

General duties of the role include but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead a growing team of Compliance Associates responsible for reviewing and analyzing processes and systems for compliance gaps.
  • Oversee the implementation of necessary updates or enhancements to business processes, systems, or programs in accordance with lending laws and regulations.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of applicable lending laws, rules, and standards to recommend corrective actions within business practices.
  • Collaborate across functional areas, including Legal, Technology, IT, Marketing, and Product to maintain organizational compliance with privacy laws and practices.
  • Foster productive relationships and open communication with business units to develop a culture of compliance.
  • Provide expert consultation to senior leadership and associate teams on lending and banking compliance-related matters.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including payment network rules, card association rules, and consumer protection laws.
  • Advise product team on how to implement regulatory requirements in a customer-oriented way while fully adhering to regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that regulatory analysis of new products and services are performed and well-documented, and that related controls are implemented consistently prior to launch.
  • Collaborate with compliance and product teams on product design to ensure compliance controls are in place.

About You

Experience and qualifications for the role include the following:

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree or 7+ years of relevant experience with an advanced degree (e.g. Master’s, JD).
  • Experienced in lending, payments processing, consumer, card products, bill pay, and/or deposits.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. consumer protection, privacy, and banking laws and regulations, including FCRA, GLBA, UDAAP, TILA and BSA/AML.
  • Extensive knowledge of financial regulations including: OFAC, TILA, ECOA, FCRA, FCPA, UDAAP, UCC, NACHA, FDCPA, SCRA, and card brand rules.
  • Demonstrated track record of working with product teams on regulatory compliance matters including, but not limited to: financial product obligations, consumer compliance, complaints handling, money transmission / e-money rules.
  • Experience building and/or enhancing existing compliance program infrastructure to incorporate oversight of new products and services, including developing new processes and workflows.
  • Self-motivated and collaborative professional with demonstrated experience leading and managing teams.
  • Ability to understand and interpret regulations and regulatory guidance and communicate them clearly and concisely to key stakeholders.
  • Highly detail oriented with strong organizational skills and solid problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage assignments that are of diverse scope and complexity and require significant initiative, judgment, and planning.

The national pay range for this role is $201,000-$252,000 in base salary. Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience aligned with Flex's internal leveling guidelines and benchmarks.
